Bruce Potter

Bruce Potter - Educator, Author, and School Administrator

Bruce Potter is an educator, author, consultant, and school improvement strategist whose career has spanned more than three decades in public education. He has served as a superintendent, district administrator, principal, teacher, and consultant, and is involved in instructional leadership, professional learning communities, visible learning implementation, and organizational improvement. Bruce Potter helps schools improve their teaching practices, build collaborative cultures, and improve student outcomes through research-based strategies and sustainable systems change.

In 2004, Bruce Potter joined the Berkshire Union Free School District as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. He oversaw academic and behavioral programs, while also supporting professional development initiatives and staff evaluations. He later became assistant superintendent for business, managing finance, human resources, facilities, and technology operations while maintaining fiscal responsibility within a highly complex funding environment.

In 2022, he became director of innovation for Green Island Union Free School District. He designed several innovative frameworks, including The Heatly Way professional evaluation model and The Heatly Instructional Model. These initiatives strengthened teacher clarity, professional accountability, and instructional effectiveness.

Bruce Potter serves as co-founder, author, and consultant with The Center for Collaborative Expertise. He provides customized professional learning and leadership coaching. In 2025, he co-authored Grading Visible Learners, which explores assessment practices that view learning as a continuous process rather than a fixed outcome.
